I am incredibly honored to be partnering with Treasurer Folwell and his entire team on an incredibly important non-partisan disability issue regarding raising the age of ABLE accounts.

Working with News Team at WRAL

I attended the famous North Carolina State Fair where I worked with the treasurer’s entire team to spread Awareness on this issue and even got to sneak in a turkey leg! So elegant with the crown 😎

The Treasurer and I will be hosting a video event together in December next!

WHAT IS AN ABLE ACCOUNT & WHY DOES IT MATTER TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES?

The NC ABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) Act was enacted by President Obama in 2014 and North Carolina quickly followed with the NC ABLE Act. This legislation allows the State of North Carolina to offer ABLE savings accounts for those with the occurrence of disability prior to the age of 26.

But NC ABLE accounts are MORE than just a way to save money – it presents the opportunity for those with disabilities to achieve a better life experience and participate in their communities, improve their health and tackle life in an engaging, meaningful way.

The ABLE Age Adjustment Act is being considered in congress now and proposes the age for eligibility for NC ABLE accounts be raised to age 46.
