🎙️ THE CONVERSATION

I had the absolute joy (and let’s be honest… a few “wait, how is this my life?” moments 😅) joining Lakeshore Foundation on their podcast Nothing Without Us—hosted by the amazing Alie Gorrie 🎙️

And this one felt… different 💛

🏥 WHO LAKESHORE IS (AND WHY THIS MATTERS)

Lakeshore Foundation isn’t just an organization—they’re a global leader in adaptive sports, research, and advocacy.

✨ They create opportunities for people with physical disabilities and chronic conditions to live healthy, active, full lives
🏋️‍♀️ From Paralympic training to everyday community programs
🔬 To research that actually improves how people live—not just what looks good on paper
🤝 And advocacy that pushes systems to do better (because “access” shouldn’t be optional 🙃)

🧵 IT’S ALWAYS ABOUT THE STORY

Because yes—we talked about disability., But more importantly…

✨ We talked about stories
💥 The ones we’re told
🧠 The ones our brains quietly make up
❤️ And the ones we choose to rewrite

🤯 THE FULL-CIRCLE MOMENT

In 2010, I met John Kemp in the ICU… not knowing he’d later become one of the people helping shape my life.

Yeah. Let that one sit for a second. Years later… we reconnect.

🤝 Now he’s a leader I deeply respect
🔥 A champion for our community
💛 And a friend who’s guided me (and occasionally kept me in check 😉)

Life = weird. And kind of incredible.

🎙️ WHAT WE ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT

This wasn’t surface-level.

👉 Her story 🤍
👉 My story 💥
👉 And the very human connection in between

Because it’s never just about the diagnosis… It’s about how we choose to live with it (even when it’s messy, inconvenient, and occasionally absurd 😏)

🧪 THE PART I’LL ALWAYS COME BACK TO

We also dove into one of my favorite ideas:

🧪 Becoming the scientist in your own life
🔍 Questioning the narratives your brain hands you
⚡ Realizing… they’re not always true

(Your brain is brilliant… and also slightly unhinged at times 😂)
